Nelson Elder Care Law took part in the 2-day ‘We CARE Veterans’ Resource Fair’ event held on May 13-14, 2022 at the Cobb Civic Center as a participating veteran sponsor. Our firm provided elder law and qualifying for veteran benefits information. The We CARE Veterans Resource Fair is a division of United Military Care, Inc. and is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Serving Veterans in Georgia.
Our team rallied the community together for toilet paper donations for Cherokee and Cobb County seniors. We held a contest between our two offices to see which would receive the most donations. Our Marietta office collected 1,335 toilet paper rolls, while our Woodstock office collected 1,665+ donations! The ’Super Roll’ contest was a fun way to engage with business partners to raise awareness of this essential need for seniors in our communities.
We were excited to be a co-sponsor of the inaugural Red, White & Blue BBQ put on by the Veterans of Cherokee County, Georgia, held at the American Legion Fairgrounds. Proceeds from the event benefited the Cherokee County Homeless Veteran Program and supported veteran suicide awareness with the Cherokee County Suicide Coalition.
One of NECL’s employees Janet Ponichtera center, just won an award for 12 years of board member IN WOODSTOCK service.
This Mother’s Day, we celebrated those who go above and beyond for us everyday. That is why we proudly hosted our #FavoriteMomism TV Giveaway to recognize one special mother, and award her with a 32 inch LED TV! WE heard lovely stories about special memories, lessons, pieces of advice, and things treasured about moms. Please visit our Facebook Page to learn more about the winner of our #FavoriteMomism TV Giveaway.
As elder care law attorneys, we understand the challenges student caregivers face when trying to equally balance their roles as a caregiver and maintaining their studies. That is why we are proud to announce our Student Caregiver Scholarship to award $1,000 to one compassionate student who volunteers their time spending it with and caring for elderly adults.
We are currently accepting applications for our 2022 Student Caregiver Scholarship until midnight on September 30, 2022. Please visit our scholarship page to learn more about this opportunity and how you can apply before the deadline.

I heard Cindy’s presentation at a Senior Luncheon at my church, and was very impressed. She helped my daughter and me understand many aspects of elder law. Josh has also been very helpful in my planning to enter an independent living situation . I have told many friends about them.
The very best elder law attorney and staff anyone could ever ask for! I have referred a number of clients to Cindy and she never disappoints. She is kind, caring, and extremely thorough in making sure everything is completed as it should be. I highly recommend Cindy for anyone needing lawyer services; she truly goes above and beyond for every client she helps and has had a huge impact in so many peoples’ lives. Thank you, Cindy and staff, for everything that you do- I’m so glad to know you!
Cindy and the Nelson Elder Care Law team are trustworthy and helpful. They are the experts in elder care law. At Leaf Cremation, we entrust our families to the care of the Nelson team when their services are needed.
Josh Nelson, and his staff, have been amazingly helpful to our family. The ins and outs of nursing homes, the rules and regulations that govern Medicare and Medicaid are daunting and the folks at Nelson Elder Care Law have been informative, responsive, and above all, empathetic. I cannot emphasize enough how their service has taken a weight off of our shoulders especially during a world pandemic that has targeted nursing homes across our country. I highly recommend retaining Josh and his firm!
I had a simple legal question to them that I needed answered and they very helpful in giving me the information I needed. I highly recommend them and will reach out to them if I need more advice or assistance. Thank you for taking your time to just answer a couple of questions I had!
