Do You Want to Be Remembered and for What? Elder Law Attorney, Woodstock, GA

Slightly over a third of the people in the U.K. say that they want to be remembered most for their senses of humor after they pass away.

If you ask people what they would most like to be remembered for after they pass away, you are likely to get a lot of different answers.

Most people would probably answer that they want to be remembered for something that is important to them and how they view themselves as a person. For some, that might be how they built a business or what they did for charity. For many others, it might be for how they took care of their families.

A new survey in the U.K. reveals that a lot of people would like to be remembered for their senses of humor, as the Daily Mail reported in “Now that’s having the last laugh! A third of Brits want to be remembered for their sense of humor after they pass away.”

The results might be somewhat surprising, since the stereotypical Brit is a dour, reserved person in American popular culture. However, it makes sense that people want to be remembered for humor.

Laughter also makes other people around us laugh. It makes others happy. There are far worse things than being remembered for making others feel good.

No matter what you want to be remembered for, a sense of humor or something else, you cannot always choose how people will remember you.

If you do not have an estate plan and leave it to your heirs to sort everything out, it is likely that is what they will remember instead of your ability to make them laugh.

Josh Nelson, and his staff, have been amazingly helpful to our family. The ins and outs of nursing homes, the rules and regulations that govern Medicare and Medicaid are daunting and the folks at Nelson Elder Care Law have been informative, responsive, and above all, empathetic. I cannot emphasize enough how their service has taken a weight off of our shoulders especially during a world pandemic that has targeted nursing homes across our country. I highly recommend retaining Josh and his firm!
